Tim Woffenden, a leading consultant on the IB, was, from 1996 until 2005, Director of Studies at Haileybury where the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme was launched successfully in 1999.
An IB examiner, course work moderator and team leader in History, Tim has a great deal of experience as a practitioner and assessor. Tim is a member if the authorisation team which visits schools wishing to deliver the Diploma programme on behalf of the IB (his latest authorisation visit was to Cheltenham Ladies College) and is well-placed to advise schools as they consider whether to set up a Diploma programme. He has consulted for a number of schools that are launching, or have launched, the IB Diploma. These include schools in both the maintained and independent sectors, such as the Bishop Ramsey C of E School in Ruislip, Royal High School in Bath, North London Collegiate School, Sherborne School, Felsted, Derby College, Hautlieu School on Jersey, City and Islington Sixth Form College, Cobham Hall, Ellesmere College, Abbey School in Reading, Wellington College (Berkshire) and Newcastle College.
He has spoken at conferences such as the independent schools directors of studies, the deputy heads of the Girls' School Association and ETC's Conference for Heads of Sixth Form, is a speaker for Keynote Education and has also addressed business audiences. He runs workshops for Lighthouse Education and IBICUS.
Tim launched the IB Diploma Programme at Brentwood School in September 2007.
"The service that Tim provides is second to none: he knows the IB inside out, and he imparts his knowledge in a supportive and clear way. His advice is based on real experience, and he is able to balance the idealism of the Diploma Programme with the practicalities of delivering it in the classroom. The schools who work with Tim can only gain hugely from the experience, and by that I would include students, staff and parents."
(David James, IB Director, Wellington College)
